Judge a Game - Library

The Library stores and accesses Creatures, Maps, Items, and Handouts.

Creature Library

Map Library

Item Library

Handout Library

Creature Library

The creature library is where the Judge stores creature templates in a table for future use. At the top of the window is a search box that dynamically searches for words or fragments. Creatures can be sorted by clicking on the table headers: Name, or Module.

Creatures in the library can used to spawn copies (or "instances") on a map by click-drag creature from the Library to any point on the map. Spawned instances of creatures do not affect the master in the library, so if you want to make permanent changes to a creature, either change the master in the library or edit an instance and then Save it to the library (Right-Click, Location, Save Creature).

Map Library

This library houses all of the maps that you have created or imported into your game. The maps are shown in a table which can be searched by keyword or sorted by map or module name. The buttons at the bottom allow you to manage or add to your map library.

You do not have to create your maps in d20pro. In fact, most of the time you might find that it's necessary to use pre-made maps from modules or create them yourself using various software titles. Once you find them, importing them into d20pro is a fairly basic process.

Managing Maps

You can use the search box at the top to quickly find maps in your library. The box acts as a live filter, so it works as you type. Alternatively, you can use the pull-down arrow to filter by module.

You can sort by map or module name by clicking on the headers on top, and you can rename maps by double-clicking their names in the table. The red arrows open the maps into your workspace.

If you open multiple maps, they most recent will be displayed, while others are located in your d20pro Start Menu.

Creating Maps

To When you click on Create, you will be given an option to create a map in 3 ways:

File Browse for the file you want to import and double-click.

Clipboard Imports directly from your memory - you must have copied an image file already from the web. This will typically make a larger file size for the image, and take longer to transmit when players are connected.

Raw Creates a blank map of dimensions you specify.

Item Library

The item library is where you can create or delete items for use in the Creature's Item list, or you can place items on the map for players to use their creature to pickup and place in their inventories.

If you wanted, you can create or find images for the items and update each item's picture. To do so, simply click on the item placeholder picture (the bad graphic of a dagger) to update the image for each item.

You can also create a Description for it, or perhaps indicate which book the item was found in, and enter a Weight for each item, so the carried weight for everything carried by a creature is displayed properly in the Item Tab of the Edit Creature Window.

Handout Library

This library allows you to store and manage handouts for players. You can add files by URL or by uploading directly to d20pro. Currently supported files include JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PDFs, and hyperlinks. Handouts are perfect for clues, notes, and scenes that you want to share with your group. Handouts are temporary and do not permanently reside on the players' computers. This allows you full control over their accessibility and allows you to temporarily share even copyrighted files with players. You can revoke access at any time.

You can dynamically search all handouts using the search function.

Share with Players
View handout yourself only.
Name The name of the handout, you can rename.
Module The module of the handout, you can rename.

When sharing you can select individual players to view each handout. Remember, if you do not remove access for each handout d20Pro will store this as a permenant setting. Thus, when you are done sharing, unlick the players for each handout you previously shared.

Create

Creates a new handout from a URL or File.

Import

Imports a handout in the file format of .d20_handout .

Export

Exports a handout in the file format of .d20_handout in a folder you specify.

Push Pushes each handout that has shared access to players out to all players who have access. This is useful when players accidently close out of the handout and want to view again.

Delete

Deletes the selected handout from the library.
