Judge a Game - Game Tools

The Game Tools allows you to place a template on the map, create or edit a map marker, hide or reveal a fog of war, and transmit boxed text to the game log.

Map Template

This tool will allow you to place a template on the map (with Judge approval). You may select from the drop-down menu the correct size of the template, then choose the color, and the template's opacity then press the and place it on the map.

If you are using a point of origin style template (like Line or Cone), you will first start by clicking the origin of the template then selecting the direction by moving the mouse and clicking a second time to confirm.

This is also an effect selection tool. Thus, you may select the creatures you are affecting with an effect through the spell or ability menu then press the "target: click to target" from the Use Special Ability Decision or Cast Spell Decision Window.

In the box below, you will see all placed templates on the map, you can click on them on the map to adjust its' placement or delete them from the map.

Map Marker

This is a great tool to show the location on the map of different things. It can be used as a pointer. it could be used as an identifier of a trap a party member has set. To use, simply press the "Create" button. From there you can enter any information you wish about it, change it's color, then change it's position on the map (make sure it says "Map Markers" on the top-middle of the d20Pro window to move the map marker)

Fog of War

The Fog of War pane allows you to hide or reveal portions of the map to the players. Fog of war hides parts of the map that you don't want the players to see. It is NOT dynamic or affected by any light sources creatures may carry. The GM manually controls fog of war by "painting" or "erasing" the black layer.

The Cursor Size box allows you adjust the size of the brush to speed up the process when you want to reveal or hide larger portions of the map.

You toggle between hiding or showing map tiles with the Hide and Show buttons. The Hide All and Show All buttons let you apply the appropriate action to the entire map at one time.

Creatures have their visibility set to Dynamic by default, which means their visibility is governed by the Fog of War. See the example to the right. Creatures with dynamic visibility are invisible while in the fog of war and visible when out.

Boxed Text

The Boxed Text pane makes it easy to send out the ever popular boxed text to players in the Game Log. The Announce button will send the text you've entered to the Game Log in an easy to recognize format which helps to differentiate it from anything you might type into the chat channels.

Tip: It will allow for a smoother game if you can type up all of you boxed text ahead of time in any sort of word processing document. Then, when the time comes for boxed text you can copy it from that document into the text area using the Paste button and Announce it to the players. OR create all your boxed text inside a Map Marker.
